about

In the summer of 1992, The Bastard Sons of Dennis convened and fooled around in a recording studio. Q plucked the strings of Nicodemus and Yuri operated the sequencer. This is the result.

It's a curious piece of music as everything is improvised. Q came up with the main guitar theme as Yuri added new parts to the sequencer loop. Parts were dropped out, dropped back in, and faders and other knobs on the mixing desk were twiddled.

Horsemon may sound like a Jamaican word, meaning 'postman', but actually came about due to restrictions of length on a filename. In the very beginning, our gruesome twosome were searching for a name for themselves. They used their combined Chinese astrological signs, which resulted in 'HorseMonkey', the name that appeared on the poster for their very first live performance. However, only eight characters were permitted by the old Atari Cubase at Silent Running Studios, so the file was truncated and saved as 'Horsemon'.

This is probably the earliest recording of The Bastard Sons of Dennis to exist anywhere on the planet. As such, we felt it was worth including on this album as a bonus track. It is also quite unusual to hear live jamming on a sequencer, and Q's guitar is fabulous, so despite the various messes contained within, we felt the track possesses plenty of artistic merit.
