Won't You Come Around My Way

about

Originally this song started with just the intro – a whole tone scale ascending and a diminished scale descending – then went into the main riff of the song. The bluesy jam was invented mostly by Danny just for fun and Rough Terrain kept it.
Jerry’s fretless bass was known as the Stretched Cat.
The whole band contributed to the vocals of this song, with Andy and Danny singing the harmonies.
This version sounds somewhat unlike the live version of the song that Rough Terrain performed as there was no acoustic guitar or extra percussion parts involved on stage.
The acoustic guitar belonged to Daylight Studios and was a Fender with seriously heavy strings.
The ‘Oh Lord’ parts were entirely Andy’s doing on the day and never part of the original plan for the song. These days those parts make him cringe.

lyrics

WON’T YOU COME AROUND MY WAY
Well I’ve come around here and I ain’t doing much
Just paying a visit to keep in touch
After a while I try the upstairs flat
There’s nothing to say when we’ve run out of chat

Well I knock on the door of this guy I hardly know
And he greets me
I stay for a while then I’m wanting to go
But this other guy’s got something on his knee
What could that be…?!

Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way

There’s four of us here, we’re not saying a word
One’s looking out of the window
We’re sitting around and we can hear the sounds
Of music on the stereo
And rustling…

Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way

Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way

I hear a click and I see a spark so I turn around
In the centre of a cloud of smoke
I see a man with a big grin on his face
And who can blame him

Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
Won’t you come around my way
