Fun Facts:
* Week Five is a tune that George wrote around the time of his TESOL course in the spring of 1996.
* It was a four week course, so Week Five is all the stuff that happens to you as a teacher after completing that initial course of training.
* The sound of the train was recorded on the cassette recorder George hauled around Prague for teaching.
* He left it running on a journey from his room at the Hotel Opatov to the office of his school, English House, in Albertov, in order to capture some ambient sounds of the city.
* Week Five is essentially a two-chord tune – F# minor and E.
* The tempo is 135 BPM.
* There are five ‘verses’ to Week Five, one for each week.
* As the piece progresses, each ‘verse’ becomes a little more intense than the previous one.
* The fourth and fifth verses are slightly longer than the first three.
* The fourth week involved a great deal of work, so that deserved an extra few bars.
* The fifth week represents the rest of one’s life after the course is finished, which hopefully is longer than four weeks.
* Week Five is dedicated to the guinea-pig students at Sidmouth International School in Spring 1996 – Sandi, Tammi, Keiko, Myrtle and Dilek, and tutor Vincent, as well as the other trainees, tutors and students.
* A little credit must go to Adi Celestine for defining the ending.
* In a perfect world this tune would have been 5:05 minutes in length.
* 505 was the number of the night bus, or the “magic bus”, that would take George back to Opatov after a night of revelry in Prague.
* The acoustic guitar rhythm gives the tune a train-ish vibe.
* The percussion and latin feel were intended to make the piece appear more cosmopolitan.
* Due to lack of space on the CD, the soundscape at the beginning was drastically curtailed.
* This was a shame as it took ages to make the panning and editing just right.
* Pražského Povstání was chosen because that metro station was very close to where George lived to begin with, before moving out to Opatov.
