George wrote this song on 20th September 1986, the same day that he wrote two others, which was a rare thing in those days.
The key is A major and the guitar solo is played backwards.
The synthesizer parts were all recorded in one long take after deciding which sounds to use. They all come from a Roland synth that may have belonged to The Sicillians and was still at Paul’s Howell Road studio. It had similarities to the Wasp which George owned, in that it was a digital synth with analogue controls.
When played live this song required heavy use of the smoke machine and strobe where possible.
